THIS PAST WEEK:
About Last Night in Evansville: The IceMen benefited from some early offense and never looked back as they defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones by an 4-1 final score in front of 4,679 at Ford Center. Rookie Paul Kirtland netted the only goal for Cincinnati while Andre Bouvet-Morrissette added his first pro assist. Goalie Michael Houser made 35 saves in the defeat.
About Saturday Night vs. Fort Wayne: A four goal outburst by the Komets proved to be too much for the Cyclones to overcome as the visiting club earned a 5-4 win in front of a regular season record crowd of 12,228 at U.S. Bank Arena on Throwback Night and Teddy Bear Toss Night.
About Friday Night in Fort Wayne: Mike Embach’s third period goal turned out to be the game winner as the Cyclones knocked off the Komets by a 4-2 final score in front of 7,329 at Memorial Coliseum. It is the fastest that Cincinnati has reached the 20-win plateau since the 2009-10 campaign and third-fastest in club history.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
A Week of IHL Reunions: The Cyclones will play four games in five days this week beginning Wednesday night against the Orlando Solar Bears. It will be the first time since March 4, 2001 that the teams have met. Then, the Clones will play three consecutive nights against the Fort Wayne Komets - the Friday night tilt will be at U.S. Bank Arena before the clubs skate on Saturday and Sunday at Memorial Coliseum.
Busiest Month of the Season: Cincy is already three games deep into the busiest month of the year. In total, the Clones will play 15 games by the end of January. Their next busiest month will be March, when they’ll skate in 14 games over 31 days. Over the last four seasons (including this year), the Clones have gone 32-21-0-3 in January.
A Record Setting Night: This past Saturday, the Cyclones set a club record for regular season attendance when they welcomed in 12,228 to U.S. Bank Arena. It was the third largest crowd to see a Cyclones game since the team returned to ECHL play in 2006 - including playoffs.
