SHOTS FROM THE POINT:
Home Sweet Home: After nearly three weeks away, the Cyclones will return to the ice this weekend to wrap up their regular season schedule against the Evansville IceMen. With the second seed in the Eastern Conference race already secured, these games will serve as a final tune-up before embarking on their quest for the 2013 Kelly Cup.
Century Club for Vaive: This past Sunday, Cyclones second-year forward Justin Vaive eclipsed the 100 pro game plateau. Coming into the night, he has played 44 games in a Cincinnati jersey and accumulated 21 points. His other 54 pro games have been with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, where he's posted four points (2g, 2a)
At Home on the Road: The Cyclones finished the 2012-13 road schedule with the best record they've had under Head Coach Jarrod Skalde. After this past weekend's road trip, Cincinnati completed a 20-11-3-2 record away from U.S. Bank Arena. The In fact, their 45 road points are tied for the most they've had in any of the last four seasons.
Deuces Wild: When the Cyclones are able to find the early offense, they have been nearly unbeatable. They are 32-9-1-1 when scoring the game's first goal (a 76.7 winning percentage) and are a perfect 18-0 when notching the first pair of goals.
Keepin' Your Enemies Close: This season has been filled with closely contested battles. Coming into the final weekend, Cincinnati has played 50 of their 70 games that were decided by two goals or less, going 27-15-5-3 in such situations.
Nearly Wire to Wire: Cincinnati has played nearly 84 percent of their games as the top team in the North Division Standings.
