The Streak Continues...
March 3, 2013 | View Comments
The Cyclones overcame an early deficit last night to earn a 4-1 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings...running their consecutive wins streak to six.
Defenseman Yann Sauve snuck into the Cincy slot and potted a goal for the second straight night...making it 1-0.
We didn't know it then, but that'd be the last time we'd hear from the Kalamazoo offense. Later in the first period, Dan Eves had a cross-ice pass bank off of his skate and into the net to tie things at one.
After a scoreless second period, Mike Pelech ended up crashing the net and picking up a rebound to give the Clones a 2-1 edge...it turned out to be the game-winning goal.
The Cyclones PK unit came up with some offense as David Pacan fought off a couple of hooks and lifted a shot over Cannata to give his team a big insurance goal at 3-1.
And in the final minute, the Wings pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie it...but David MacDonald hit the empty net from inside his own blue line to seal the 4-1 win for Cincy.
Just another night at the office!
Now as we approach Evansville for a Sunday night tilt, there are a couple of notes to be aware of:
- Brian Foster will get the start...not terribly surprising after Houser started six straight games. It was time for a break and Fozzie will get back in there tonight.
- The Cyclones will play a bit shorthanded again tonight...same lineup (minus Houser) as last night with Ellington and Conboy still out. Cincy will have 9 forwards and 5 defensemen available. Didn't seem to have a major effect last night...but short shifts and few (if any) penalties would be ideal.
- We'll be on the air at 7:55pm for Cyclones WarmUp with all the play-by-play action to follow on the Cyclones Radio Network (FM 100 The FAN, America One, CyclonesHockey.com) starting at 8:15pm!
