Another Gritty Effort...

These are the types of games that get you fired up for this final stretch of the regular season...some great defense, timely scoring, and another HUGE division win on the road.

The game started of strong, with the Clones jumping out to a sizeable advantage in the shots on net category and Matt Smyth was able to light the lamp.

Unfortunatlely some questionable calls led to a few too many chances for the Wings power play, and they cashed in on Nick Sirota's goal from just inside the blue line to even things at one.

But the Clones responded in a big way...Jack MacLellan was able to get a puck in the corner just a few seconds after a Cincinnati power play ended and struck to give his team a 2-1 lead.

Then, minutes later, Dan Eves picked up what turned out to be the game-winning goal when he caught a Taylor Aronson pass and got just enough of a shot to beat Joel Martin...it was 3-1 Cincy after two.

With all but one meeting this year between K-Zoo and Cincy being decided by a single goal, you just had a feeling it was gonna come down to the end...and it did.  Midway through the third, Yann Sauve snuck into the Cincy slot and tapped home a goal to make it a 3-2 game.

Sauve's goal set up a frantic finish.  With the goalie pulled, it was just a matter of staying strong defensively...and Cincinnati did.  The win was the Cyclones' fifth in a row and pulled them into a tie for the top spot in the East!

Now the same two teams do it all over again tonight at 100 Broadway...can't wait!!
