One More in Fort Wayne...
February 22, 2013 | View Comments
The Cyclones wrap up their season series with Fort Wayne tonight at Memorial Coliseum! And with the Komets struggling to find wins with just five weeks to play...tonight's battle is a big one. If the Clones can earn the win, they'll extend their lead over Fort Wayne to a commanding 16 points. Not to say that a win would dagger the Komets...but it would make a divisional comeback very unlikely.
- However, as we have seen, the Komets can put the puck in the net with the best of them...the last time the Cyclones skated at Fort Wayne, the home team took a 7-2 decision. Brandon Marino is among league-leaders in scoring and they were just assigned a goalie who has 62 games on NHL experience in Jeff Deslauriers. Bottom line, Cincinnati needs to keep throwing pucks and bodies to the net.
- Speaking of shots, that's one of the lynchpins for success - or so it seems. Your stat of the day...the Cyclones are 22-7-2-1 when outshooting their opponents. Pretty staggering record.
- With Foster up in the AHL and Hetenyi traded, the Cyclones have a defined number one goalie for a change - Michael Houser. While I think we all would like to see the Foster/Houser duo down the stretch, last year's OHL Goalie of the Year has proven he can be a game changer. He's gonna be a busy guy over the next five days - that's for sure.
- Looking forward to seeing rookie Patrick Cehlin make his debut tonight for Cincinnati. After having seen him a few days in practice, the guy can move the puck extremely well and has some breakaway speed as well. With a likely line combo of Shalla-MacLellan-Cehlin tonight...that could be a dangerous offensive unit when they're out there. In case you didn't hear...Cehlin will wear #17.
We'll be on the air tonight on the Cyclones Radio Network starting at 7:40pm with an 8pm Opening Face-Off! Catch it live on FM 100 The FAN or at Game Time Sports Bar and Grill!
Scary sight last night in Detroit for Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov...
The good news...he was released from the hospital today and is day-to-day...
The Erik Karlsson drama continues...he addressed whether or not he thought Matt Cooke's season-ending hit was intentional...oh boy...
For those of you that know me are aware I'm a big Red Wings fan...but you can't help but be impressed with the Chicago Blackhawks and their amazing run to a record...they're one win away from breaking it...
A very cool video on the "Evolution of the Suspension"...it explains the process of what happens when an incident needs to be reviewed...
