Highlights from Saturday night vs. Kalamazoo...

A new feature I'm going to add to the blog is an audio recap of the game...using highlights from the broadcast on the Cyclones Radio Network.
Looking back at last night's game, it was a wild finish...but unfortunately, the Kalamazoo Wings were able to pick up the OT victory.
After a scoreless first period, the Wings power play finally got them on the board as Brian Bicek's shot barely snuck through Foster and crossed the goal line to make it a 1-0 game.
Another unfortunate bounce led to Kalamazoo's second goal of the night just a couple of minutes later. Dustin Cloutier caught a bouncing puck at center and proceeded to send a laser-beam of a wrist shot over Foster's blocker from just inside the blue line...it was a 2-0 game at the end of 40 minutes.
However, the Cyclones treated the fans to another remarkable comeback in the third period. Just 3:19 into the final stanza, a strong move in front of the net by Anthony Luciani gave him enough time to bury a rebound past Joel Martin. It cut the Cincy deficit to one.
And on another power play, the Pelech-Aubin-Eves combination came up with the equalizer. Out of the corner, a pass to Aubin connected and the captain one-timed home the game-tying strike exactly two minutes after Luciani's goal.
After the great comeback, the teams went into overtime and gave Cincinnati at least a point. Unfortunately, the tie would not last very long. After Aubin blocked Yann Sauve's point shot, the riccochet went right back to Sauve in the high slot; the Kalamazoo defenseman wristed home the game-winner just 38 seconds into OT...giving the Wings a 3-2 win.
Although two points would have been nice, a point for the Clones last night keeps them seven points up on Fort Wayne and Toledo - both of whom earned wins last night.
Today, it'll be the same line-up - except for in net. Zoltan Hetenyi will get the start as the Cyclones visit the Wheeling Nailers. Catch the game on the Cyclones Radio Network (FM 100 The FAN, CyclonesHockey.com, America One) starting at 3:40pm!
