Off and Running...

Things are starting ramp up as the regular season is underway! This week, the Clones will battle the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center on Friday before coming back home to face Trenton on Saturday night.
Hear all the action of the weekend games on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com / America One) starting 20 minutes prior to the Opening Face-Off!
Couple of points you may have missed during the week...
- Cincinnati has signed Francois Bouchard and released Alex Penner. While Penner's size/strength would have been a nice addition, roster pace simply doesn't allow it. And with Bouchard sporting more than 100 AHL points...it's really a no brainer. With the NHL Lockout still pushing everyone down a level (for now), the Clones need people who will put the puck in the net and stockpile points before players ultimately get called back up once the NHL work stoppage ends.
- This weekend will be the first North Division game of the season for Cincy...Friday night the Clones will face a Walleye team that is also 1-0 after a win last Saturday. Not surprisingly, they sport the highest PIM average in the Eastern Conference, with 38 minutes in the sin-bin during that season-opener last Saturday. Games between the Walleye and Cyclones have always been heated. Expect nothing less on Friday.
- Since 2006, the Clones have compiled a 26-25-2-1 record against Toledo...which speaks to the parity of the series. They're 13-14-1-0 in Northwest Ohio. Cincinnati was 7-5-1-0 last year against the "Fish."
- Between the pipes, we very well may see Zoltan Hetenyi at some point, however, Brian Foster was terrific in his first start last Saturday. While we haven't heard anything official yet...I'd expect to see Foster on Friday and depending on how things go, see Hetenyi on Saturday at U.S. Bank Arena. I'll keep you updated though!

It appeared that yesterday (Tuesday), that the NHL lockout could be coming to an end with an NHL proposal of a 50/50 split....but NHLPA head Donald Fehr says he has some issues...
From a Cyclones perspective, the lockout has given fans a chance to see a ton of AHL talent...and it shows. The speed is extremely noticeable. When the stoppage (inevitably) ends, you can expect to see some of these Triple-A level players head back to San Antonio and Milwuakee...but as for exactly who, that remains to be seen. Tuesday's discussion suggests that both sides are trying to get the NHL regular season started by around November 2....which would mean the Clones would likely keep their current lineup through the Halloween game vs. Kalamazoo. But all of this, of course, is up in the air as we wait for a decision.
In case you're interested in such things...the NHL has released their full proposal to the NHLPA...our friends at ProHockeyTalk.com have the details...
