Odds and Ends...

It's hard to believe that it's already July...we're just a few short months away from dropping the puck in the 2011-12 season!!  This is the time of year where things start to ramp all three leagues.  Here are some of the latest happenings...

The Cyclones have made their first player signing of the offseason, forward Neil Trimm...he looks to be a very solid player offensively and is going to be a great locker room guy.  In case you missed it last week, here's what Coach Skalde had to say about the signing...

Also of note, here is the 2011 Qualifying Offer List for the Cyclones....basically, these players have until August 1 to accept the offer...

Forwards: Cory Conacher, Dan Eves, Eric Kattelus, Matt Pierce

Defensemen: Brian O’Hanley, Kevin Roeder, Brock Sheahan, Garrett Suter

Players who had already signed a contract by July 1 did not need to receive a qualifying offer.

Each team was entitled to reserve the rights to a maximum of eight qualified players. Of the eight qualified players, no more than four could be veterans (260 regular season professional hockey games played as of the start of the upcoming 2011-12 season). Players on open qualifying offers cannot be traded.

The qualifying offer must remain open for acceptance until August 1 at which time the qualifying offer becomes null and void and the team may sign the qualified player to any salary or may elect to take no further action. Teams that extend a valid qualifying offer to a non-veteran player shall retain the rights to that qualified player for one playing season.

Chet Pickard talks about his NHL Development Camp in Nashville...

The Florida Panthers have sent their invites to prospect camp, which gets underway next week.

Speaking of the Panthers, here is a full breakdown of what they did in Free Agency...and they were very busy.
